ABOUT VLADIMIR “VLAD” CALIXTE
Comedians of the past and present such as Richard Pryor, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy,
Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Dave Chappelle have paved the way for aspiring comedic artist
throughout the years. With the laugh factor forever changing, the comedic realm inspires
future entertainers to test the boundaries of hilarity and bring forth innovating new ways to
inspire smiles to people’s lives. Brooklyn has seen its share of comedic release but there has
never been an entertainer such as Vladimir “Vlad” Calixte to shine through.
There aren’t many people who can include actor, comedian, model, clothing designer and
musician to their resume but for Vlad these accomplishments are only the beginning. An
optimist since childhood, Vladimir has always aimed to do more than the average kid. After
interning and modeling at Vibe magazine, networking and really realizing his gift to entertain,
Vlad knew in life what he wanted. In 2007 Vlad risked rejection and critic’s wrath when he
developed his hilarious YouTube comedic persona “Haitian V.” Despite nonbelievers Vlad
continued to develop HV and through sheer determination he has garnered positive reviews
from his videos and over than 60,000 hits per skit.
Along with his comedic gift, Vlad has lent his talents to acting in indie films and short films
such as Failsafe, Dirty Laundry and various stage plays. His keen ear for great music has also
proclaimed him a musician to where he is skilled enough to play the piano and drums. To add to
his impressive roster Vlad created a mixtape entitled “New Elevator Music” with DJ Whoo Kid
in 2008 which garnered great reviews from hip hop enthusiasts. If that’s not enough the very
dapper dressed entertainer launched his first T-shirt line called Todestule for hip and chic men
and women. In July 2008 Vlad received high recognition from one of New York’s prestigious
publications, The Daily News. He was praised for his innovative comedic sense and chameleon
ability. He is a walking testament that dreams can indeed be built and made, so get familiar
with the name you’ll be seeing more of him. In 2010 he alongside the popular urban menswear
clothing company Brooklyn Sky designed Haiti Relief T-Shirts to raise money to help those
devastated by the earthquake which destroyed the flourishing country.
Currently Vlad is working on a mixtape, a DVD and skits separate from his HV persona. On
August 4th, 2011, HV released a video skit titled “Haitian V Waits For A Bus While A Prostitute
Tries To Get Him To Pay For Sex!” The video garnered over 3K views overnight and in less then
a week its view has peaked well above 400K. There is no stopping him as he is determined more
than ever to succeed in life and be center stage.
