BLAISE + CO. CONTEMPORARY ART PRESENTS : LE POPE OF FOOLS BY BEN OLSON
NEW YORK, NY — Blaise + Co. Contemporary Art is pleased to present LE POPE OF FOOLS, a bespoke exhibition
of recent works for sale by New York-based painter Ben Olson. Opening at GALLERY BAR on SEPTEMBER 8th at 7PM, Le Pope of Fools will remain on view through the end of the month. Blaise + Co. is especially thrilled to present the never-before-displayed painting Hay Pulpo, which has been recently pulled from a private collection for the purpose of this hotly anticipated exhibition.
Installed at Gallery Bar, the renowned Lower East Side hub of nightlife and art, Olsonʼs intensely colored large-scale portraits create a fiery backdrop to the loungeʼs already lively social scene. Removed from the commercial gallery
setting, these arresting works ring true to the Blaise + Co. hallmark of promoting emerging Contemporary artists in non-traditional spaces. As the fifth Blaise + Co. exhibition produced in as many months, Le Pope of Fools is the latest example of the agencyʼs value as a rich source of untapped artistic talent. As an extension of this value, a 10% DISCOUNT IS OFFERED WHEN AN ARTWORK IS ACQUIRED BEFORE OR AT THE OPENING.
Olsonʼs work articulates the experience of the individual in bold shades and thick impasto brushwork. Faces and
figures pop from the walls as the artist investigates how his subjectsʼ inner aspect radiates through as color and form.
The exhibition title, Le Pope of Fools, speaks to Olsonʼs ability to assume the loaded responsibility of portraying an individual without forcing a heavy burden on the viewer. At once focused and playful, serious and sensuous, Le Pope of Fools highlights Ben Olsonʼs well-honed talent to offer a glimpse into the paradoxical world of the individualʼs inner existence.
