Today Is The Day To Come Out & Support Our Youth

NEW YORK, NY- Entertainers 4 Education Alliance (E4EA) is proud to announce the return of their 3RD annual I WILL GRADUATE DAY CELEBRATION. The event is schedule to take place on October 26th 2011 at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)’s Haft Auditorium from 10:00am-3:30pm  located at 27th Street and 7th Avenue in New York City. The event is presented by Teenkonec and sponsored by Verizon, Time Warner Cable, the Council of Supervisors and Administrators, BMI, MTV and HOT 97FM. 
As part of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s, [Interagency Task Force for Truancy and Absenteeism, E4EA aims to empower students, parents and communities to improve educational achievement in our youth while making students citywide pledge that they will graduate from high school.  During “I WILL GRADUATE DAY,” participating schools will have access to workshops, mentorship and college information supporting E4EA’s mission of instilling the importance of education, careers and self-sufficiency in our youth. “I WILL GRADUATE DAY” will culminate with a pep rally, and Executive Spotlight by MTVand concert hosted by Cipha Sound of HOT 97.1fm morning radio show.
In addition to a variety of local community leaders and school administrators, “I WILL GRADUATE DAY” will feature celebrity appearances and performances by “MTV Correspondent” Sway Calloway, “BET 106 & Park Correspondent” Terrance J, “ABC’s Shark Tank/Fashion Designer & Entrepreneur” Damon John, “NBA Greats” Allan Houston and John Starks, “Music Industry Executive/Recording Artist” Jim Jones, “Atlantic Records Recording Artist” Maino, “Pop Songstress” Wynter Gordon andGrammy Award Winner, Singer, Song Writer and Producer” Sean Garrett. The red carpet will also include appearances by the stars of the upcoming “Are You the Next Teen Superstar?” reality show, in which Sean Garrett will be spear heading the NYC search for the worlds next BIG star.
This past June, Mayor Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott, who will be presenting opening remarks during “I WILL GRADUATE DAY” 2011, announced that in 2010, New York City’s four-year high school graduation rate rose to an all-time high of 65%, a 2.1% increase from the previous year. “We have received tremendous support from New York City and school officials, community organizations, schools, parents, civic leaders and community leaders. We are confident that through our collective efforts, the dropout rate will continue to decrease,” stated Tonya Lewis, Executive Director of E4EA.
