{Media Alert } This Friday 10/28/11 STAT! For New York City Public Hospitals! Hot 97 and KISS FM Presents Birth of the Boom

WHAT:

 (New York, NY) – The second annual STAT! For New York City’s Public Hospitals! (www.stathhc.org) is being presented by New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) and The Fund for HHC from October 23 – 30, with one concert in each borough. On Friday October 28, 2011 STAT! For NYC Public Hospitals!, KISS FM, and Hot 97 will host Birth of the Boom in the Bronx.

Held at the historic Paradise Theater, Birth of the Boom chronicles the journey of hip-hop, beginning with a live DJ set by DJ Kool Herc, considered one of the founding founders of hip-hop. The performance, divided into two acts, is set amidst landscapes of hip hop culture complete with live illustrations of the Bronx during the graffiti era, break dancers, and a special tribute to the original B-Girls of Hip Hop by Full Circle Soul.  Artists also included in the performance are Styles P, Doug E. Fresh, Marley Marl, Kangol Kid, DJ Red Alert, Joell Ortiz, Roxanne Shante, and Nice ‘N Smooth.

These pioneers of Hip Hop are gathering in an effort to raise awareness for public health issues that are important in their communities ranging from anti gun violence to breast cancer awareness.
